The source of our greatest suffering is the deification of the will. We make ourselves God. However, once this move is made everyone else, in a self-defensive stance, tries to be God. The product of all of this is isolation, self-consciousness and self-protectiveness. Do not put up walls of self-protection, but become servants of the will of God.

I just came home from Saturday afternoon mass and had listened to the readings and gospel. I thought I had been moved and inspired but Fr Barron just took what I learned from the Word of God to an even higher level. I have spent many years in the "freedom" of my will wandering the desert when all I needed to do was to submit to God's love and live in the Garden. Thank you for your evangelization...truly a gift from God.

Father Barron,
Bravo! This is the best treatment I've ever heard of comparing the "fall" in the Garden of Eden with Jesus' 40 days in the desert wilderness where he breaks the cycle of human disobedience to God through what we might call a "resurrection" of humility and subordination to the one true God. Thank you ever so much!

Your words of wisdom continuously feed me in my quest for truth who is Jesus. My MP3 player is now full of your sermons which I am able to listen to any time I am able to find time by making time. And my blog showcases your sermons hoping and praying that with this small way, one soul at a time will be saved.
May our Almighty God the Father in heaven richly bless you and all his beautiful creations!

Sermon 531 : The Lord Your God Shall You Worship and Him Alone Shall You Serve : 1st Week of Lent
For the first week of Lent, Father Robert Barron reminds us and teaches us that.....
God is the ultimate judge...
Not us.....Even though we are continually tempted to be the judge, so making ourselves the centre of the Universe, we can learn from Adam and Eve and from the way Jesus treats His temptations just what, and what not to do.
By worldly standards, my desire for my own freedom on my terms and thus deifying my freedom of choice will lead to conflict and chaos.
As a Protestant Christian I remember well being so relieved to find a Rock so much higher than myself and my puny ideas as to what was right and wrong taken from my own interpretation of the scriptures..
I thank God for My Roman Catholic Faith and for being able to learn from such an amazing teacher as Father Bob.
My advice is to drink in and meditate deeply on all of his sermons and Video casts. All 531 of them...
It is so so so important to digest them and then be very careful to pass them on to others..
Just as Adam and Eve affected each other and now all the Human Race in a negative way, now we have the chance to pass on the positive, taken from the way Jesus handles His temptations and taken from the simple and down to earth explanations by Father Bob of www.wordonfire.org..web page..
click on WOF radio and the click on sermons and then Bob's your uncle and a very good uncle at that.
Do not let these God given opportunities pass and please once again send them on to others and so help change the world for the better!!!

Christine
I mean no disrespect; but, please, tell me what one can continue to do to rebut these ongoing, media missives, when, as mentioned, the circular file awaits us when we do?
thank you.
